Hi Hugh,
NCBI, under the guise of the Centre for Inclusive Technology (CFIT),
carry out ICT accessibility audits and user tests. The purpose of these
is to judge the accessibility of an ICT-based product or service to the
widest audience, including older people, people with disabilities and
people using assistive technologies. As part of the auditing and testing
process, representative end users access the product or service using
their normal assistive technologies. We cover a wide range of
disabilities and assistive technologies including, but not limited to,
the following:
Blind person using a screen reader.
Partially sighted person using screen magnification software.
Partially sighted person using no assistive technology.
Mildly motor impaired person using a keyboard only and no assistive
technology.
Severely motor impaired person using a joystick, switch or voice
control.
Severely motor impaired person relying on the help of a third person.
Deaf or hard of hearing person using no assistive technology.
Language impaired person using text-to-speech software.
Language impaired person using no assistive technology.
Hope this answers your question.
Mark
