Hi there,
I am Technical Director of XML Workshop Ltd., an XML consultancy
and software development house.
In the XML document world, the first thing our clients asked was always
"How can I convert my Word documents into XML?", so we developed a simple
VBA macro to do so. Then, in 2001, someone said "I really just want accessible HTML, not XML",
so a light went on in our heads and a new product was born - YAWC (Yet Another Word
Converter), which converts Word documents into accessible HTML, via an interim XML step.

That was my first introduction to accessibility, and since then I have actually learned
a bit about it, so we now flog our services as accessibility consultants, as well as
providing document conversion services to clients like the NDA, Comhairle, and Teagasc.

Currently, we're developing our next iteration of YAWC, and trying to target the elearning
market with an online conversion service for lecturers and course content creators.
It's a lot of fun, but unfortunately, the market for accessibility-related tools and services
in Ireland currently goes nowhere near paying the bills, so most of our work is still
in custom software development, usually with an XML flavour.
