Hi,
I have two comments about the document circulated by Hugh.
1. It ignores all that is going on in Europe. This includes the Directive on Employment, e-Europe, the recently completed communication on e-accessibility and the very important upcoming Directives on Public Procurement.
2. I think that any discussion on access to public products and services must include the benefits to the public body involved of including accessibility. A major driver for public bodies is the anticipated cost savings of delivering products and services electronically rather than in the more traditional, labour-intensive fashion. If they ignore the growing number of people with disabilities and elderly people they will not achieve these savings as they will have to continue to deliver the manual alternatives to a far greater degree than they otherwise would have to. We gain and they also gain.
Take care,
Gerry Ellis

Hi everyone,
Here is the revised agenda for the meeting on Wednesday.
In June, a subgroup of Irl-Dean was formed to encourage the adoption of the principles of design for all. Attached is one of the articles written as part of the subgroup of Irl-Dean formed in June. This group was created to encourage the adoption of the principles of design for all by department heads and others in the public service. Comments on the article are invited at the meeting.
All the best,
Hugh
