Hi,

Your document says there are 5 areas of interest, then talks about 4.

Is IrlDean saying that the Centre should only concentrate on thecnological issues? whether intentional or not, it reads that way. Should Design for All or Universal Design not cover all aspects of design, including the built environment, transport, etc?

Another area worth mentioning would be maintaining and developing links with similar organisations abroad. These could include standards bodies, professional technology bodies like CEPIS or similar centres of excellence in other countries.

I hope these ideas help.

Take care,

Subject: [Irl-dean] draft document: centre for excellence

Hi everyone,

Here is the draft document on our recommendations for the Centre for Excellence based on all the contributions we have had on the issue on the mailing list and at the seminar. The draft can also be read on our website at the following address:

http://www.design-for-all.ie/index.php/2005/11/28/irl-dean-response-to-the-centre-for-excellence-in-universal-design/#more-27

I hope to send this in to the NDA tomorrow, so if there are any other comments or ideas to add, please email me.

All the best,

Hugh O'Neill
