European Disability Forum call for experts on Information and Communication Technologies

 

In light of the dynamic developments, part of the overarching European strategy i2010, European Information Society 2010, EDF is looking for experts on a voluntary basis with knowledge of disability and technical knowledge on the following fields:

 

-         Information technologies in general, with the focus on:

o       Future of digital television 

o       Accessibility of electronic services and platforms (including Internet, video- and mobile telephony, assistive technologies) to persons with disabilities

-         Standardisation of Information and Communication Technologies products and services 

-         Research and innovation 

 

The experts will participate on behalf of EDF in bilateral meetings in Brussels (starting in autumn 2006) with the European regulatory agencies and industry representatives in order to elaborate and defend the official EDF position on accessibility of ICT products and services to persons with disabilities. It is therefore essential that experts possess, in addition to thorough technical knowledge, good understanding of the policy on accessibility policy of ICT products and services to persons with disabilities. 

 

In addition to participation in the above mentioned meetings, experts will occasionally be asked to contribute to EDF papers by providing technical comments on the material drafted by the Secretariat. Although EDF is not in a position to remunerate the experts, EDF will cover their travel and accommodation expenses.

 

This call for experts will be ongoing until the explicit notification of closure by the Secretariat
