I don't know if there is anything wrong with them as such, but if you
wish to use a format that is accessible to most users then plain text is
the best choice as it is a format understood by the widest number of
email clients (this would really be referring to legacy email clients).
In terms of using Thunderbird there _were_ some issues with MIME types
and attachments[1] [2], and  I don't know if the above are issues with
MS Outlook and I guess that most modern email clients can happily deal
with many types of objects/content.
