Hi, Claude,
This reminds me of when I was doing a similar presentation one time. I asked
the kids to close their eyes to imagine what it is like to be blind. Of
course, they all closed their eyes and opened them again in a nano-second
and said they understood.
"Let's try again", I said. "Close your eyes and look at me through your
kneecaps". This brought a little gasp as some of them finally got the idea
that disability is permanent, not something that just comes and goes in a
second.
But, of course, there is always one smart-arse. One little guy pipes up "Oh,
yes, you see everything brown when you are blind" ... he was wearing brown
trousers!
