*2008 Global Forum to review areas of challenges and opportunities for
international ICT accessibility standards*
Since March 30, 2007, 126 United Nations member states have signed the
Convention: this unexpected fast rate of adoption makes it urgent to promote
ICT accessibility standards that will support a better and faster
implementation around the world of the many dispositions of the Convention
regarding ICTs.
For the first time since the Convention was adopted, an international group
of experts from industry, standards development organizations, NGOs
representing persons with disabilities, international development
institutions, governments and academia will examine together its many
implications for ICT accessibility standards. Proceedings will be edited to
serve as a reference for future accessibility standards developments.
Participation to the meeting is free, but advanced registration is required
at:

Should you have any question regarding your participation, please contact
Ms. Francesca Cesa Bianchi, Director of External Relations for G3ict
fcesabianchi at g3ict.com or +1 404 446 4160.

8 May 2008 Oslo, Norway
The Norwegian Resource Network for Universal Design is hosting a conference
on Research and Development Challenges in Universal Design and ICT. The
Network is a forum where organizations, commercial enterprises, work places
and research institutions can meet to establish a common platform for
creating new research projects and innovative cooperation. The conference
will offer an opportunity for researchers from institutions both in Norway
and in Europe to meet in order to create the basis for future applications
for Universal Design and ICT projects.
*Recent Developments in Housing, Health and Technology for Older People:
Policy and Practice - Belfast 10th June 2008*
SPARC – is the Strategic Promotion of Ageing Research Capacity
SPARC and CARDI have joined forces to mount a workshop on Recent
Developments in Housing, Health and Technology for Older People: Policy and
Practice in Belfast on 10th June. As always the workshop has been designed
to appeal to all stakeholders, professionals (including health, housing and
social services, industry, charities, voluntary agencies etc), scientists
and older people. There is no attendance fee except a desire and an
enthusiasm for improving the quality of life and well-being of older people.
CARDI occupies a very significant place in ageing. It is an all-Ireland
organisation developed by leaders from the ageing field across Ireland
(North and South) including age focused researchers, academics, statutory,
voluntary and community sector representatives.
To register for a place at the workshop please go to www.sparc.ac.uk and
