[Irl-dean] Aesthetics of non-visual web experience

Hi Eamon,
great point and in my view you're hit the nail on the head about creating
something that's a "pleasure to use" or "experiential", i.e creating a great
experience. This could be termed "usability", but in my mind goes beyond
that and into the realm of "user experience", (the new buzzphrase) within
which usability is one of the building blocks.
It does come down to really good design, but interaction design and user
experience design. One example could be "designing for frequency", which
could manifest itself in the form of a dashboard similar to the one on
Google Analytics that is designed for the most common tasks.
It "just works", would be the best design goal, perhaps, where users almost
don't need to think about using it, they just get on with what they are
trying to do and that's the real pleasure. As such the design would seem
"invisible".
