Hi all,

In the middle of April I contacted the administrators of
www.askaboutmoney.com to inform them that their registration process was
inaccessible. The reason was that it relied on an image verification for
which they did not provide an alternative.

I am now delighted to report that they've fixxed this and, in my view having
just completed registration, their process is now reasonably usable.

The process now involves the user completing all the standard fields
(username, password and the like) before being asked to enter the number of
a specific guideline. For example, when I registered I was asked to enter
the number of the guideline relating to the rules governing advertising on
the site. A link to the guidelines is provided.

There is still a small glitch in that the verification question is located
at the end of the form (when viewed linearly using Jaws) and not all data is
persisted when one goes to the page containing the guidelines and
subsequently returns to the registration page. However I have no doubt they
will fix this in due course.

I am sending this information in the hopes that some people may find it
useful, and also because I feel that the administrators of the site deserve
a lot of credit for their willingness to fix the accessibility of the site.
Major companies with far more in the way of resources at their disposal
could take a leaf out of their book. It is not a perfect solution, but it
is not bad at all.

Best

Dónal
