Hi Alan,

Apple have also included some very interesting new features in their snow
leopard operating system. I suspect that there has been some cross-over
between the interaction strategies found on the IPhone, and also those they
are now including for their multi-touch track pads. I particularly like the
fact that they have focussed on increasing their accessibility in Safari,
and also that they are now providing mechanisms to label buttons and other
graphics which the developer has not clearly exposed.

I'm also quite open to taking one of these new toys (sorry devices which
provide new interaction strategies) and doing some playing, I mean research!

Cheers,

Dónal

Subject: [CEUD-ICT] Accessibility features on Apple's iPhone 3G S

Hello all,

I'm pleasantly surprised by the focus that Apple have given to accessibility
for the latest version of the iPhone.

Apple have mentioned Accessibility on the home page for the iPhone 3G S [1].
They have webpages to describe its accessibility features in terms of vision
[2], hearing [3], and physical and motor skills [4]. They've made impressive
boasts about the VoiceOver screen reader in particular. It seems that Apple
have included a diverse range of accessibility features, and not just a
couple of token features.

I haven't actually seen the iPhone 3G S yet, but if anyone wants to donate
one to us, feel free! :-)

Regards,
Alan.
