Hi All,
the first draft of a CEN Workshop Agreement on guidelines for training ICT
professionals in Universal Design is now open for comment until October 4.
See the posting on the NSAI [1] or the CEUD's websites.[2]
The UD curriculum to be specified by this CEN workshop shall identify the
knowledge and skills that are necessary to successfully implement the UD
approach in an ICT development process. The training guidelines shall
reflect the special training needs of ICT professionals, the conditions and
context of training for professionals, and the different needs of different
professional roles in the ICT industry.
It would be great to get as much feedback on this document as possible. It
covers a large range of ICT domains including the web, consumer electronics
and backend technologies as well as issues such as privacy, ethics and
legislation. The current draft is quite 'rough' and needs work so all
contributions would be greatly appreciated.
The NSAI webpage contains a feedback form for the submission of comments.
[3] Please send these to either myself or NSAI at
elizabeth.oferrall at nsai.ie. Alternatively please feel free to hold any
discussions on this document on this mailing list.
Many of you who have been involved in standards work before will know that
the feedback mechanisms used by standardisation bodies are not the most
accessible (in this case filling out an MS Word document). If anyone has
any difficulty please contact me directly and as chair of this group I will
ensure your feedback is received, acknowledged and processed.
Kind regards,
Dónal.
