Hi Stephen,

That sounds like a very interesting project.

I would suggest not relying on colour alone. Some people see colours
differently from others. For example, something that looks red to most
people may look brown to somebody with colour blindness. 8% of men have
some sort of colour blindness [1]. The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines
recommend not using colour as the only visual means of conveying
information [2]. You could use colour along with something else; for
example, you could use a red happy face and a blue sad face, or you could
use the word "happy" in red and the word "sad" in blue.

You may be interested in the work that Adam Wilson in the University of
Wisconsin-Madison is doing [3]. He's doing research on using brain waves to
send messages to Twitter.

Best of luck!

Hello All,

I am seeking assistance in creating a computer application communication
aid for sufferers of Locked In Syndrome
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Locked-in_syndrome
The concept for the aid is to allow the user to select colours from the
application, colours are assigned/ associated with a particular mood or
emotion and this colour is displayed to convey non-verbal communication.

I am seeking assistance with the interface and programming for this
concept. I have submitted the concept report to the Index Awards 09
(design for independent living), a family member of a 'Locked In' sufferer
contacted me through the awards group and is interested in using the aid on
this person (Dublin based).

I am looking for someone to offer their skills in interfacing and
programming possibly to establish the aid as a web based application and
essentially be of great assistance to bringing the concept to the next
stage.

If you are interested in learning more or participating on this very worthy
cause or offering me advice or direction please do not hesitate to contact
me; smithdub at hotmail.com.

Regards
