Hi,

I thought some people here might be interested in a presentation that I have
been asked to give to the students and faculty members responsible for an
MSc course on Interactive Entertainment Technology in the Dept. of Computer
Science and Statistics in TCD. It will take place between 5 and 6 PM this
Friday in Room L3 in the Hamilton Centre which is near the Lincoln Place
entrance. All are welcome and there is no charge.

The abstract for the presentation is below

Take Care,

The Economic Imperative
of Social Inclusion

Abstract

It is as natural for a society to contain people with disabilities as those
without. This presentation will examine the benefits of including the needs
of people with disabilities when designing and developing entertainment and
related products and services. It will demonstrate that the benefits accrue
not only to people with disabilities themselves, but to the companies and
individuals who design and develop these products and services.

The presentation will highlight some of the relevant legislation both
nationally and internationally which governs inclusion. However, it will
also show that standards and practices, including Design for All, exist to
support inclusion. In short, it will show that good design benefits
everyone.
