I think Donal is right; it is in their interest to index videos. As a professional captioning company we don’t feel too threatened by it to be honest. I think that anyone that’s used voice recognition software will appreciate, all it’s missing is the human element!
Captioning a video is not an expensive project, €100 would easily cover a recorded short clip. As captions open up the clip to a wider audience, it’s an easily recoupable €100.
I too am looking forward to seeing it in operation. Access to text (comprehensible or not) has to better than nothing
