[CEUD-ICT] Samsung tries to block VoiceOver on iPhone

Hi, Edward,

It is great to see that you are fired up enough to get stuck into this issue. Thanks for that.

I appreciate the 38 Degrees web site. However, as I have initiated an action on an official level through the relevant UN body, I don’t think it would be wise for me to have a parallel action happening through 38 Degrees. That is not to say that I think it is a bad idea or that someone else shouldn’t do it ...

Thanks again.

Take care,

Gerry Ellis

Gerry I have been a fairly quiet member but I have had an idea on how this could be publicised very quickly. An organisation called 38degrees:

 <http://www.38degrees.org.uk/> 38 Degrees | people. power. change.

38 Degrees brings you together with other people to take action on the issues that matter to you and ...

Could help create some action on your behalf?

This story is moving along quickly. I brought it to the attention of the
Convener of the Accessibility and Human Rights group within the ITU, which
is the UN body which develops telecommunications standards. She has now
brought it to the attention of the Director of the ITU Telecommunications
Standardisation Bureau with a view to contacting Samsung. Let's see if this
goes any further.

Thanks again to Josh for raising this.

Take care,

In a very cynical move South Korean firm Samsung has recently sought an
injunction in a German court arguing Apple's VoiceOver screen-access
facility infringed one of its patents. [1]

Well worth a read, and indeed IMHO encourages you to think twice before
buying any more of their products.
