The W3C = Members who are sponsoring this first Incubator Group are: @semantics, = ICRA, ILRT/University of Bristol , Institute of Informatics & = Telecommunications/NCSR, Segala, T-Online, Vodafone, and Yahoo! We are = very much appreciative of their work to get to this point, and their = courage to give this unique opportunity a try. As a reminder of what the Incubator Activity is, from the the Activity = home page [1]: "The W3C Incubator Activity fosters rapid development, on a time scale = of a year or less, of new Web-related concepts. Target concepts include = innovative ideas for specifications, guidelines, and applications that = are not (or not yet) clear candidates as Web standards developed through = the more thorough process afforded by the W3C Recommendation Track." The Incubator Activity proposal was reviewed by the AC and approved [4] = last year. Since then, there has been a substantial amount of work by = prospective XG sponsors on charters, and by the AC, AB and Team to = prepare the procedures and systems to foster a smooth and successful = two-year experimental phase for the Activity. Other XG Charter proposals are under consideration and development. We = invite your organization to consider developing an XG Charter according = to the guidelines [5] and to participate in the new XGs.
